Away from the beaches, and in a desert region, Cappadocia is a UNESCO world heritage site known for its naturally unique rock and vally formations called ‘fairy chimneys’. In Persia, Cappadocia was known as the ‘land of beautiful horses, whereas in Christian circles, it was a community involved with Pentecost. It was great to hike in the valleys, while at the same time pick fruit along the way with Macchu and our Turkish guide. I loved staying in a cave hostel (pure darkness at night, and natural air conditioning). I also enjoyed the conversations with Fran and Garry of South Africa, who I met back in Olympos.
