2007 Travels

2007 kicked off a triumvirate of golden years of summer backpack travel.  Having won some scholarships and the freedom of time to travel, I decided to first spend a month studying at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor as part of its Summer Institute in Survey Research Techniques.  While I was at the school, I played around with a few ideas, mainly fixated on going to the Middle East at long last.  In the end, I decided to spend 3 weeks in Turkey (as my first introduction to a country east of Europe) and 2 weeks in Italy.  The adventures in those countries whetted my appetite for more, which was satiated over the next two summers.  Once back home in Canada, I was able to appreciate the Rocky Mountains, which I seldom enjoy due to lack of time.  To end the year, I returned to New York.  It was great to spend time with my close friend Eddsel in my favourite large city in the world.
